The lawyers of a leading London borough council claim there is’significant evidence’ to show that people there have been unlawfully searched and that a judge has ordered a complete overhaul of the way police are carrying out their work.
The High Court has ordered a review of police tactics in the west London borough of Hackney, which has been the scene of five of the six major terrorist attacks over the past decade. The court heard how the force has suffered “inadequate oversight” and that “significant information has emerged regarding police operations within Hackney that is potentially relevant to the Court”.
